This live events hub will be a new and resourceful way to have an interactive and seamless experience when watching our live events.

SCI first fully made a commitment to expand its virtual programming when hosting all events due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Though fully pivoting to virtual events was a large adjustment, Sister Cities has been able to expand its reach to countless people around the world to promote our mission: promoting peace through mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation - one individual, one community at a time.

As we further develop our virtual programs in order to reach a wider and more diverse citizen-diplomat community and include more of our international members, we seek to expand our network to champion peace and prosperity through the relationships forged. Programs on this page will include our global conversations, annual conferences, youth leadership summits, and more.

Following our live events, you will be able to find past events and video clips on this page to revisit them in the future, or to tune in and review the program if you missed an event. Stay updated with SCI and our events by visiting this page often.

Global Conversations

SCI Global Conversations is a program series designed to connect Sister City Communities with experts from around the world. Topics prominent to our international networks are covered, acting as a resource for members to come together and learn about topics important to them, and to also allow the public to see what’s going on in our SCI networks.

Annual Conference

Sister Cities International held its first Virtual Annual Conference, fully embracing our virtual platforms as the world was affected by COVID 19. As the 2020 Annual Conference’s theme was “Reimagining Citizen Diplomacy: New Connections in a Virtual World”, the event was brought to life through the involvement that everyone has had in the new territory of the online conference.

Annual Awards

The Annual Awards Program highlights sister city program achievements and brings international recognition to each community’s contributions to the citizen diplomacy movement. Sister Cities International established the Annual Awards Program in 1962 to recognize exceptional sister city programs. Current dues-paying members of Sister Cities International with at least one formally recognized sister city partnership are eligible to apply for awards.

Youth Leadership Summit

SCI’s first virtual Youth Leadership Summit was a success, as 34 student leaders came together to create 4 distinct, impactful projects. Focusing on the theme, “Solving Today’s Problems to build a Better Tomorrow”, students worked together to become future leaders and use their exposure in global challenges to create solutions that would be able to be implemented in their own communities.

Young Artist and Authors Showcase

Students from member cities all over the world submit art, photography, film, and literature to our Young Artists and Authors Showcase (YAAS) for a chance to win $1,000 and to display their work at our annual conference.

President Inaugural

The 2021 SCI Presidential Inaugural Event was a huge success as we transformed what normally would be a black-tie gala to an amazing event accessible through an online platform. Subsequently, this program offered access to tens of thousands of viewers around the world. The Inaugural Event was estimated to have over 20,000 attendees. SCI was joined by our prestigious Honorary Host Committee comprised of Mayors, Members of Congress, Diplomats, and more.
